About the role

Our primary responsibility within the MASH team is to offer parenting and family assessments for families who have complex and additional needs while working with our partner agencies to help families keep children safe. The families we assess often present with a range of complex issues. An essential part of our approach is understanding intergenerational factors affecting parental capacity and using our systemic model of practice to build resilience within families.

The MASH Service is led by Helen Harding, finalist at the Social Work Awards 2022 in the Team Leader of the Year category, and consists of 1  team. 

The Social Worker position will be office based. In this role, you are expected to work from our town hall campus. We are encouraging increased face to face working for teams as we know how important this is for social workers and all meetings with children and family take place face to face.

About you

As an Social Worker in our team you will work collaboratively with our families, partners as well as colleagues, ensuring a multi-disciplinary approach that aims to achieve excellent outcomes, which in turn supports our children and families to lead happy, healthy lives.

However, these are not the only skills and characteristics we are looking for. To be shortlisted for the position, you must be able to clearly evidence the following skills and experience within your application:

  • Substantial experience as a Social Worker (e.g. minimum 3 years), including child protection work.
  • Experience of working with children and families including complex assessments and statutory work.
  • Experience of direct working with children and adults from vulnerable groups.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary interagency basis and ability to negotiate on behalf of service users.
  • CQSW or CSS or DipSW.
  • Evidence of post qualification study.
  • Recent post qualification training in working with children & families and child protection e.g. PQ Child Care Award; AMP; Achieving Best Evidence.
  • Practice teaching award or a willingness to undertake this training.
  • Current Social Work England registration.
