About the role

London Borough of Tower Hamlets Children’s Services is committed to making a difference to children, young people and families. To help achieve this we are looking for two experienced Child Exploitation and Serious Youth Violence Co-coordinators.

As a Child Exploitation and Serious Youth Violence Coordinator you will be a key to the continued improvement of our response to children who are vulnerable to, or at risk of, child exploitation, serious youth violence and/or going missing.

For this role you will need to be a Social Work England registered social worker with a professional social work qualification, or equivalent, and at least three years’ experience. You will contribute to the identification of unmet local need and address blockages to an effective multi-agency response and development of services across London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

The postholder will have a role in developing the knowledge and skills of the workforce through advice, guidance and training, you will engage in strategic work providing professional support and challenge to improve local responses to CE, SYV and missing. In addition, you will take a lead role in the raising of professional awareness across council services and partner agencies.

You will co-ordinate the Multi-Agency Risk Panels (and be involved in other associated meetings to this panel) you will be responsible for the management and organisation of the MARP panel, coordinating meetings, tracking cases and developing action plans.  

Your experience, personal and professional skills will enable you to work autonomously and equally as part of a team of other professionals. Good communication skills, confidence, self-motivation and enthusiasm is important to this role as is an excellent grasp of IT and data gathering. There will be an opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of this service including policy and procedure developments as well as to be responsible for the day to day management of the tasks associated with this very important area of safeguarding work.

There is a requirement to be flexible and adaptable to meet the expectations of the role and deliver consistent high-quality service provision.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

About you

Qualified Social Worker with at least 3 years experience

·   Skilled communicator – ability to accurately and confidently orally present to various audiences adapting style and delivery to suit audience participation and learning

·   High standard of written work and report production

·   Experience in working collaboratively across multi-agency network and partnerships

·   Ability to apply research and data analysis skills to a wide range of crime and community safety issues
