About Us

The Diamond Project is a pilot program that works with and supports birth parents in Tower Hamlets who have had - or are at risk of having repeated pregnancies that lead to their children being removed from their care through care proceedings.

As a Diamond practitioner, you will work with parents to build their trust and confidence (mostly with mothers) and help them deal with their challenges and needs in relation to the 4 specified outcomes of Being a parent; Staying healthy; Staying safe and, Being in control. You will advocate for the parents and help them access the services they need, as well as provide practical support to help them overcome their challenges and needs. You will provide weekly supervision sessions and help organise and lead group meetings and sessions for the parents. You will form part of a small team, that will establish and maintain effective partnerships and influence with other agencies and stakeholders that support the parents.

The Diamond Project model is based on a relational way of working, so you will need to be committed to this approach and have the ability 'to always show up' and persist with these parents. You also need to understand the situations that cause children to be removed from their families of origin and be passionate about changing their lives for the better.

Tower Hamlets is a progressive, ambitious, and a diverse place to work. We place children and families at the heart of everything that we do and are relentless in our pursuit of positive outcomes for all.

Our Better Together Practice Framework is based on the ideas and concepts which underpin Restorative Practice and draws from other strength-based approaches, such as Systemic and Trauma Informed Practice.

Our C-Change approach: Connect, Curious, Community, Co-Produce, Collaborate, Check, sets out “6 Cs” for all our work with children, young people their parents and carers, and each other.
