About the role

“Barking and Dagenham CARES”

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly skilled project manager to join our Children’s Care and Support Service in our drive for excellence. In Barking and Dagenham, we are passionate about achieving the very best for the children and their families that we work with across our diverse community.

This is an exciting time to join us as we are on a journey of improvement and this role will be key to delivering that. We believe our staff are our best asset and therefore we are determined to support our social workers from the very beginning of their time with us.

To achieve this, we are setting up a Social care Academy (the LBBD CARES Academy) that aims to embed best practice across our Children’s Services, through setting out a clear practice model, with a comprehensive training package for staff and a clear and transparent career pathway for social work progression. We want to ensure that Barking and Dagenham is the place of preference for social workers to join and to stay with us as they develop their career.

As a Project Manager your role will be key in enabling us to achieve that vision, leading the establishment and governance of the CARES Academy, which we are aiming to launch by April 2024. This critical role involves setting up the governance structure, managing the Academy board, and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the academy's successful design and delivery. The role also requires supporting a graduate in the development of the project plan and implementation of the Academy post launch alongside supporting with their project management skills and knowledge.

This is a fixed-term, 9 month role, during which time you will establish the academy, embed the academy and put us on the path to excellence.
