About the role

Joining our efficient, multi-disciplinary team, you’ll deliver truly child-first support to vulnerable children and young people who come into contact with the youth justice system. In doing so, you’ll be making real, positive change to their lives as well as the lives of their families.

The role has a varied and challenging workload. This includes supervising children and young people assigned to you, working with their families using systemic approaches, collaborating with partner agencies to deliver services and carrying out accurate, effective assessments. Ultimately, you’ll be providing invaluable advocacy and interventions that can prevent both offending and reoffending.

You’ll work with young people aged 10-17 who are subject to youth justice interventions and sentences on statutory court orders or out-of-court diversions. Through the course of your work, you’ll also be able to take advantage of a balanced caseload, multiple opportunities for development and our deep commitment to systemic practice. If you want to excel and rapidly progress, you’re in the right place.

About you

We’re looking for experience in a multi-disciplinary youth offending team, including delivering youth justice aims, carrying out youth justice work and dealing with relevant legislation and regulations. You’ll also need to be able to design and deliver intervention plans and write accurate assessments.

As for skills, you should be well-organised, an excellent communicator and adept at building a wide range of partnerships. You should also have a recognised and relevant qualification in social work or probation and be open to practice in a relational, systemic and trauma informed approach.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent learning and development opportunities.

The partnership has resulted in improved service delivery and better outcomes for vulnerable residents, which was recognised in our last ILACS inspection which found Kensington and Chelsea to be Outstanding in all judgement areas.

“Children in care and care leavers receive an outstanding service from workers who know them exceptionally well and are caring and ambitious for them. There is strong corporate support from the wider council to provide high-quality social work services for children, including significant financial investment so that the conditions are in place for excellent social work practice to flourish.”
