About the role

We are looking for an Early Intervention Worker to join the team at our Children and Young People with Disability Community Hub.

We pride ourselves on our relationship-based approach and ensure that our children and young people are at the heart of all we do. The CYPD Service aims to support children with disabilities and complex needs, developing and implementing holistic and multi-agency support to ensure children are safe and able to achieve to their full potential.

Based in Dagenham, our CYPD Hub is the centre of our early help offer to families caring for a child with a disability. Our vision is for the Hub to be a centre of excellence, a place where children and their parents/carers feel valued, supported and encouraged. The Hub currently offers group activities for different age groups, parenting support, drop in sessions, fun holiday activities, and a sensory room.

We have good relationships with voluntary sector partners and are looking to develop our short breaks offer further. Our Early Intervention Workers deliver groupwork, holiday activities, and also hold small caseloads of early help assessments and interventions.  We want all our children and young people to have fun at the Hub, as well as it providing a much needed break for parents while their children are happily occupied. In all our work we make sure that children’s voices are heard and recorded consistently, and that safeguarding is a priority.

About you

You will have experience in working with children and young people with disabilities and be passionate about making a difference and supporting them to achieve. You will be able to work as part of a team in a busy environment, to be creative,  and to manage your time to ensure activities are delivered.

You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and will be confident in presenting information to senior managers. You will have an awareness of the particular challenges faced by children and young people with disabilities, always considering the child’s lived experience. You will be able to liaise with partners both within and without the council as necessary to ensure that services are provided efficiently and effectively and always focus on the best outcome for the child or young person.
