We have developed an Autism Strategy across our Family Services. An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Social Workers to join the Specialist Autism Team in the Children with Disabilities. Social workers will be working closely with professionals at the Autism Hub and there will be periods when social workers will be working from the Hub when it is established. The team work with those children and young people displaying severe, challenging behaviour requiring a multi-disciplinary response. The work is predicated on improving the quality and care for autistic children and young people, through providing specialist social care assessment and intervention with a view to preventing family breakdown and admission into hospital. Experience of working with children with autism or challenging behaviour and an understanding of specialist health settings is preferred but training will be made available to the right candidate.
