If so, we have the perfect role for you!

For the first time in over 20 years, Wandsworth are recruiting to the Registered Manager (Team Manager) role at our in-house Children’s home and Short Breaks Service that support Children with Disabilities both from Wandsworth and other Local Authorities. We are looking for a full time Team Manager to join our team.

About the service

Oakdene is a Short Break and Long-stay unit that provides residential care for children and young people aged 5-18 years who have moderate to severe learning difficulties. Some of our children and young people exhibit challenging behaviours whilst others may have high medical needs.

Our latest Ofsted was GOOD (January 2022).

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team, with a great reputation, to lead the team in its next phase of growth and development. The role gives you the opportunity to really make a valuable difference in the lives of some of our most vulnerable children and young people, creating a warm and loving environment for children to thrive.

The key objectives of the role are to lead and manage the large team as they care for children on a daily basis, ensuring we provide a safe and nurturing home environment, work alongside other professionals and work within the Children’s home regulations and National Minimum standards.

About you

We are looking for an energetic and passionate leader who is patient, enthusiastic about giving children the best possible outcomes, who is understanding and enjoys a challenge.

The successful candidate will be expected to fulfil a range of responsibilities, subject to skills and experience these will include:

  • Fulfilling the established quality assurance standards and targets and to meet the needs of all children / young people, this includes supervision of staff and ensuring the smooth running of the service.

  • Managing the budget, care of the building, catering and administration duties and to share the responsibility for attendance for reviews, network meetings and case conferences.

  • The post holder will need to be supportive to others, adaptable and creative and will be required to formally supervise a number of workers.

  • In order to be considered you will need to have a recognised qualification such as a Diploma in Residential Child Care (or equivalent) and recent experience of working in a senior/managerial role. You will also need to be willing to undertake relevant management training in the role.
