The Role
As a Deputy Service Manager, you can make your own powerful contribution to the lives of vulnerable children and young people across Westminster. Leading a team of social workers, you’ll help to foster a supportive, creative and inclusive environment where practitioners have the space and resources to reflect on their moral purpose, to innovate and to make a difference.
Both the front door teams (Access, Assessment) and the Social Work teams undertake assessments, Section 47 investigations and intervene at the point when the families are in crises. The involvement of social workers can be difficult for families, and you will help to manage communication. You will also play a pivotal role in managing the workload, which can be busy and unpredictable. The teams have access to a Family Therapist, Welfare Benefits Advisor, and an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor, and we have strong and well-established relationships with other teams.
Our goal is to work alongside the community to ensure children and young people are safe, cared for and have all the opportunities to be the best they can. All our work is underpinned by our systemic practice framework: we view our assessments as interventions and strive to improve the trajectory of children’s experiences and outcomes for the future, even when our role is short-lived.
We can confirm the advert for the position of Deputy Service Manager is now live on our internal and external websites, with a closing date of 20th September 2023.
The interviews will take place on 2nd and 3rd October 2023.
