“We keep on striving for the best for our children and young people” #Be More An opportunity is now available to join the Youth Justice Team as a team manager. This is an exciting time to come and join us as a team manager in the Adolescent and Youth Justice Service, our multidisciplinary response to the range of exploitative situations faced by some of the most vulnerable children in our borough. The team includes a range of partner agencies working alongside youth justice practitioners and senior practitioners. Colleagues from community sector organisations such as substance misuse services form part of the service offer. The Youth Justice Team Adolescent team sits alongside the Adolescent Team to create a joined up targeted response which supports us in having a holistic focus on the young person within a contextual safeguarding environment. Barking and Dagenham has a rapidly growing 0-19 population and we recognise that not all risks faced by children originate from within the family home. We have worked with experts from the University of Bedfordshire to help embed a contextual safeguarding approach to tackle these issues, alongside our partners across Barking and Dagenham and are now a pilot site for a number of exciting projects such as National Referral Mechanism Devolved-Decision Making and Your Choice, a programme offering intensive support to young people using a CBT approach. Within the borough we use a trauma informed, relational approach to engage our children and young people, and caseloads and processes within the team have been set in a way that recognises that such an approach takes time. As part of this team, you will manage youth justice practitioners and senior practitioners who work with children and young people that have been involved in criminality. Our Team Managers are central to driving excellent youth justice practice and making a positive difference to children, young people, and their families in our community. You will be responsible for delivering services to children and young people through the operational management and supervision of staff to support positive change for children and will be key in driving performance and high standards in youth justice that will meet expectations of external scrutiny. You will have an opportunity to be part of some of our innovative and exciting projects. You will focus on managing case allocations, having casework oversight, including auditing of cases, and driving progress towards positive outcomes for each child. You will offer reflective supervision and support the professional development of each member of your team. You will be able to demonstrate what excellent youth justice practice is, together with sound safeguarding knowledge.
