About the role

London Borough of Harrow have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Consultant to join our Children’s Safeguarding Service.

 

You will contribute and be responsible for the delivery of care to children, young people, and families within the respective area, in collaboration with the Team Manager. In addition, you will develop, improve, and uphold the quality of work completed by Social Workers, in accordance with all appropriate legislation, policy, and procedures. Children's Services embeds a culture of strengths-based, collaborative, data and evidence-led practice therefore as Practice Consultant, you must model and champion this approach within and beyond its respective services. 

 

Furthermore, the successful candidate will manage and provide supervision, direction, and guidance to a group of qualified Social Workers and non-social work qualified workers whilst deputising for the Team Manager as required, and assist in the management of the team in a manner that is responsive to legislative requirements as well as corporate and national priorities.

 

We are looking for someone who has a passion to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people who live or access services in, or who are looked after by London Borough of Harrow.

 

This position also offers a £1,500 market factor supplement per annum!

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Up to date working knowledge and understanding of the principles and applications of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks relating to children, young people, and families.
  • Knowledge of leadership, management, and other staff development techniques and skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures.
  • A high level of experience of case responsibility for children subject to care proceedings.
  • Demonstration of upholding best practice standards and upholding evidence-based outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload with competing demands.
  • Ability to chair meetings and formulate plans for children as required.
  • A recognised professional qualification in any relevant disciplines: Social Work, Probation, Criminology, Psychology.
  • Evidence of wide-ranging continued professional development.
  • Ability to travel for business purposes.
