About the role

An opportunity has arisen for the right person to play a major role in developing and improving professional standards of practice within CSSW as Independent Reviewing Officer (Children Protection). 

The position will be based within the Quality Assurance Unit, alongside independent reviewing officers for d looked after children. The expectation will be for the post holder to demonstrate a high level of scrutiny and challenge at all levels about quality of practice for children in need of protection and to promote best outcomes for them.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

About you

You will have significant safeguarding experience and good working knowledge of current legislation, regulations and guidance for child protection, children in need and looked after children. 

We are looking for someone with extensive experience of chairing complex meetings. Additionally, excellent advocacy skills, collaboration with families, internal staff and partner agencies are essential. 

Ideally, you will have senior/managerial experience of leading on multiple complex cases and supervision.
