Lambeth 16+ Service Independence Service is looking to recruit a Team Manager to lead the creation of a newly established team to meet the increase in demand for our services.  We are looking for an experienced practitioner who is up for a challenge and focused on achieving the best outcomes for our care experienced young people.

In the 16+ Independence Service we work with care experienced children and young people aged 16 to 25. As a Team Manager you would manage a team of Social Workers and Personal Advisors working in partnership with young people 16 and above and their families preparing and supporting them to make the transition from public care into independence.  You will need to work with internal and external agencies to deliver and effective, integrated and holistic service in accordance with Care Planning Regulations (2010), the Children (Leaving Care) Act 1989 and other relevant legislation and guidance.

About you

As a Team Manager in the 16+ Service you will be expected to manage a staff team carrying a challenging and diverse case load.  You will be supporting workers to keep young people at the centre of their thinking and formulate creative plans which enable young people to achieve their potential.  You will be supporting workers to complete high quality assessments and pathway plans and to continue to develop their skills in managing risk and safety planning.  Life story work and relationships with family are an important focus of the work within the team as young people need to be supported to continue to develop their emotional resilience and explore important relationships.

This is an exciting time to come to the 16+ Service as we continue focus on improving outcomes for young people and our partnerships with external agencies.  We are looking for a Team Manager who is motivated to make a difference and able to think outside of the box.

You will need to be social work qualified with 2 years of management experience and have extensive knowledge of the Children Act and other areas of social work legislation including a sound understanding of the leaving care legislation.
