About the role

We are offering a £3,000 welcome bonus plus a £3,000 annual market supplement for this role!

We are looking for a new Team Leader to join the Referral and Assessment Team.

In the Referral and Assessment team in Richmond (based in Twickenham) we focus our initial work through new referrals, including strategy discussions, initial child protection conference, Child in Need planning and taking court action if required. We are a stable team who remain child focused to support families in their time of crisis.

We are looking for enthusiastic, committed leaders who have the passion and the drive to make a positive difference to children's lives. Who are adaptable, flexible and will support the culture of partnership and professional development within the team. 

  • The post holder will be responsible for managing senior practitioners, social workers and ASYE social workers. 
  • Providing a responsive and progressive supervision space to Social Workers, ensuring timely support to children and their families
  • Operating a team duty system and supporting the allocation of children and family Assessments, overseeing their support within s17 and s47 CA 1989 frameworks
  • Supporting the development of the team both through embedding Signs of Safety as well as encouraging the overall development of the team with their knowledge.

About you

To be a Team Leader for AfC, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people. We are looking for someone who has good IT skills on Google suite and Microsoft. Who can work flexibly, has excellent communication skills and can work collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes.

  • Significant social work practice and experience of working within Frontline Social work teams, working with complex cases. 
  • Experience of managing case workers who deliver social work with children, young people and their parents/families.
  • Experience of managing people, performance and professional development to get the best out of the team
  • Experience of effective recording, monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance of interventions within case work practice using a wide range of tools and Management Information Systems
  • Strong awareness of risk management and safeguarding in the context of social care including legislation, policy and procedures related to responsibilities
