About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Fostering and Permanence Shared Service for a Social Worker to join the Fostering Duty, Supervision and Support Team.

The service operates in a shared services capacity and covers the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and Westminster City Council with Hammersmith and Fulham the lead authority. The role will be based in Hammersmith and with support offered to foster carers caring for Children Looked After.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the effective delivery of a fostering service to foster carers and connected persons foster carer and the children placed with them in conjunction with the professional network.

  • Provide a range of placements that are able to provide high quality care to the Tri-Borough Children Looked After population this reducing reliance on independent fostering agencies and voluntary adoption agencies.

  • Provide a cost-effective service, that is delivered efficiently within existing resources, and which responds promptly to requests for information and deals effectively with concerns and complaints from a variety of stakeholders. 

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the shared service helping to re-align resources to meet identified needs. Ensure that carers are supported and equipped to meet placement needs and requirements.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic individual who feels confident dealing with other professionals and members of the public, has a sound knowledge base and excellent assessment and analysis skills. You will need a Social Work qualification, and knowledge and experience of working with children looked after and their families. 


You will need to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of national legislation in relation to Fostering. We expect our team members to have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to work well with professionals from other agencies. We are looking for someone with flexibility and enthusiasm to be part of this exciting and well-established team. You will learn whilst on the job and your own personal and career development will be prioritised.
