Merton Children’s Social Care is looking for a creative, dynamic and highly motivated professional to lead on the learning and development offer in a specialist project working with children, young people and their families. This project is aimed at developing professionals knowledge and skills in identifying and providing evidence based intervention and support where Children and adolescents are displaying harmful behaviour towards their parents (CAPHB) This project will also aim to challenge the criminalisation and adultification of children and young people presenting with harmful behaviour towards their parents and carers. We are committed to promoting a holistic approach to family support. It will involve offering support and empowering families to develop effective communication and strengthen relationships.
The roles and responsibilities of the post includes:
Developing new policy and processes within Merton
Promoting best practice that upholds the principles of our “Think Family” and avoids adultification and reduces the criminalisation of children and young people.
Designing and delivering an instructor led and e-learning training for professionals both within Children’s Social Care and with key stakeholders and partners on best practice when working with CAPHB
Undertaking quality assurance of the learning and development offer
Data collection and regular reporting on activities and KPIs to the Project Board
Establishing and delivering a Champions group
The project is being led by the Principal Social Worker and the role is based in the Children’s Social Care Workforce and Practice Development Team. You will also work closely with the Specialist Social Worker involved in the project and multiagency partners.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience of project management/ delivering learning and development
Have a good understanding of Statutory Children’s Social Care and its key Partners and Stakeholders.
Good analytical skills both verbal and written and ability to communicate effectively with individuals and organisations, including those in senior positions
Strong creative and IT skills, including the ability to develop e-learning and face to face training modules
Excellent organisation and time management skills
