About the role

An exciting Consultant Social Worker opportunity has arisen in the Corporate Parenting Service. This role will manage and have responsibility of a Permanency Social Work Unit (of 3 – 5 staff members), ensuring a high quality and effective social work service to respond to the needs of Special Guardians, Connected Carers and temporary approved carers in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines.

About you

You must hold a Social Work England recognised social work qualification or equivalent, be registered with Social Work England. Substantial social work experience working with Foster Carers, Special Guardians and temporary approved carers in a Permanency Team is an essential requirement for the role.

We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, committed and passionate leader, who will bring comprehensive knowledge and skill-base to the challenge of working with connected carers, temporary approved carers and Special guardians and have a sound knowledge of fostering, special guardianship and child protection legislation. Ideally, you would have experience of managing a Permanency Team. 

You will also be expected to be committed to the Council’s core values of public service, quality, anti-racism, equality, empowerment and to demonstrate this.
