The Marriott Hotel on Grosvenor Square is hosting Compass Jobs Fair in London on Monday 25th November. It’s an invaluable event for social workers looking to progress their careers, gain insight into emerging best practice, and connect with prospective employers.
The London Boroughs of Hounslow and Redbridge are presenting at the event. Hounslow, the conference's CPD sponsor, will deliver a range of seminars focused on practice development. Redbridge will be sharing insights into their innovative approaches to early intervention and domestic abuse support.
Visitors can look forward to meeting and engaging with Hounslow and Redbridge representatives, along with a range of other exhibitors. The seminars present a fantastic opportunity to discover new, practical insights.
The event is free to attend for pre-registered visitors and provides a rich programme of CPD-eligible workshops and career development sessions.
Social workers for Hounslow Council, which is known for its commitment to developing staff, are delivering a range of seminars on effective social work practice:
Extra-familial exploitation of adolescents - learn how to identify and address risks associated with exploitation, focusing on prevention and support.
Exploring the impact of intersectionality, disability, and social work - exploring the complexities of supporting marginalised groups with inclusive and equitable practices.
The power of language in social work - how to challenge jargon and use clear communication to build stronger connections with service users.
Steven Forbes, Executive Director of Children’s & Adults’ Services at Hounslow Council, spoke about his excitement for the event, and how it can help the Borough build on its recognition at the recent Social Worker of the Year Awards.
“Building on the positive experiences of last year, Hounslow Council readily welcomes the opportunity to deepen its association with the Compass Jobs Fair through becoming Continuing Professional Development sponsors for this year’s event. We are committed to the development of all Social Workers and are excited to be offering four seminars from a range of practice specialisms. We want Hounslow Children’s & Adults’ Services to be a place where people feel proud to work while transforming the lives of its residents." "Our workforce is crucial to achieving those goals, and as a group we place a high value on emotional wellbeing and the career development of our staff. Our second appearance at this event comes a few weeks after one of our newly qualified social workers picked up a Silver Award at the Social Worker of the Year Awards. It’s indicative of the team’s quality that other colleagues were shortlisted for “Children’s Social Worker of the Year” and “Team Leader of the Year” as well. We look forward to playing our part in showcasing the fantastic opportunities we offer and inspiring the wider audience to consider careers in the sector.” Steven Forbes, Hounslow
