The event provides a great opportunity to meet with various teams, hear from leadership, and learn about career progression in Camden’s dynamic and supportive social work environment. One Camden social worker can testify to the benefit of attending.
For Esther, a Camden recruitment event transformed her career. After graduating, she was drawn to Camden because of its central location and strong reputation, so took a chance to visit the Council to find out more.
After going to the event and meeting the team, Esther found herself completing her ASYE in Camden, where she discovered her passion for frontline practice. During her ASYE, Esther benefited from Camden’s systemic model of practice, something she’d studied at university.
“Having had my second placement with the Looked After Team, I wanted a better understanding of working in the front-line team and Camden provided me with this opportunity. I was also fascinated by the systemic model. Having learned this at University, I wanted to know about the practicality of working with children and families.”
Reflecting on her time at Camden, Esther speaks highly of the supervision, manageable caseloads, and team support she received.
“I had caseloads with the right complexities that supported my learning and training. I enjoyed reflective supervision time with my supervisor. I also like my team and the support that I received from my buddies.”
Esther has stayed on after her ASYE and continues to grow in her role. She highlighted the learning and development opportunities, which are a key part of Camden’s offering, as well as the strong teamwork culture. If you’re looking for a social work role that offers development, support, and a central location, Camden could be the right place for you too. Esther encourages potential recruits to explore their options at Camden.
“I’d tell anyone considering Camden as a workplace to see the opportunities for growth, especially in the early years of practice.”
